GeoIP rules

This page describes settings used in redirecting rules. Configurations are located in System -> GeoIP Rules -> Add New Rule/Edit.

General information

  • Name: defines the internal name of the rule.
  • Active: this switcher activates/disables the rule.
  • Priority: defines the sort order for applying rules (if a visitor's location follows two or more rules), where 100 is the lowest priority and 0 is the highest priority (apply it first).
    note

    If there are two or more redirect rules with the same conditions and the same priority, the rule with the bigger ID will be called.

  • Notes: sets additional information for internal purposes.

When to apply the rule

This section contains configurations defining the conditions under which the rule will be triggered.

  • When visitor: sets the condition which activates the current rule:
  • Country is: sets the country from which users will be redirected. Multiple countries are allowed.
  • When visitor on the store: defines the scope of store views where the current rule will be triggered.

What to do

This section contains configurations defining the actions of the rule.

  • Change store view: allows the rule to change the user's store view:
    • Change store to: sets the store view where to redirect the user.
  • Switch currency: allows the rule to change the displayed currency for user.
    • Switch currency to: defines the displayed currency units.
  • Redirect to URL: allows the rule to redirect the user to certain URL.
    • URL to redirect: specifies the URL where to redirect the user. External URLs are allowed.
  • Restrict access: allows the rule to redirect the user to the specified URL forcibly. In this case Confirmation popup or Notification popup will not be shown to the user, and the user will be permanently redirected, even if Process actions only on the first visit is set to Yes.
    • URL to redirect: specifies the URL where to redirect the user.
