Configuring the extension

These steps focus on the initial module configuration.

GeoIP Redirect extension uses geolocation data and automatically detects a visitor’s location and adapts your store by redirecting users, switching languages, or changing currencies for a more relevant shopping experience. The extension works only on the frontend and can't redirect or block users from getting to the admin area.

To fully benefit from the extension, we recommend configuring the following:

1. Adjust main settings

In Stores -> Configuration -> GeoIP Redirect, in the General settings tab, Enable module and AJAX mode, and choose the Remote IP Key.

Define the cases when redirect rules will not be applied by tuning the appropriate configurations in the Limitations tab.

2. Create a redirect rule

Go to System -> GeoIP Rules and click Add New Rule to create a new rule.

In the When visitor section, select the condition that will trigger the rule, such as country, IP address, or browser language.

In the What to do section, choose the action that should be performed when the condition is met: this could be redirecting to a specific URL, switching the store view, changing the currency automatically, or restricting access. After filling in all the fields, save the rule. Now, when the specified conditions are met, the module will automatically perform the selected action for your site’s visitors.
