Inventory Planner Extension for Magento 2 User Manual

The Inventory Planner extension is designed to optimize product stock for your store. It identifies shortages and excess inventory and shows in advance when and how much to reorder - helping reduce delivery delays for customers.

Who should use this manual​

It is primarily intended for administrators, Magento store owners, and procurement managers who ensure timely product replenishment in warehouses.

Using the Getting started section, you will learn how to install, update, and disable the extension.

Detailed descriptions of the settings, along with examples, can be found in the Configuration option section.

The How to section contains instructions and tips for configuring the extension or some of its features.

You can find the latest changes, new improvements, and features in the Changelog section.

Practical scenarios​

Use the scenarios below - or create your own - to efficiently manage product inventory in your store.

Replenishment & purchasing​

  • Reorder plans: see the Replenishment In (days left to place an order) and Replenishment QTY for each SKU, calculated from sales velocity, lead time and stock cover time.
  • What to buy first: sort the Replenishment grid by days left to reorder or by days until the product sells out.
  • Purchase order prep: export the Replenishment grid to CSV or Excel XML and place orders with your suppliers.

Stockout prevention​

  • Days until sell-out: filter the Inventory grid by Sells Out In to find products that will run out soon.
  • Product forecast: open a product to see its projected sales and remaining stock week by week for the next 12 weeks.

Overstock management​

  • Detect excess stock: the Overstock grid compares stock with sales velocity and the overstock time/qty thresholds.
  • Markdown campaigns: export overstocked SKUs and use them in your promotions.

Suppliers​

  • Supplier profiles: store lead time, minimum order quantity (for reference) and SKU assignments; import and export them in CSV.
  • Several suppliers per product: the planner uses the supplier whose lead time still fits before the product sells out.
  • Stock value: see units on hand and stock value for each supplier in the Stock Value by Supplier grid.

Assortment​

  • Product groups: give seasonal, limited or fast-moving lines their own stock cover time, overstock time and overstock threshold.
  • New products: sales velocity of a product created within the sales history period is measured from its creation date.

Sales analytics​

  • Sales periods: track sales for 7/30/90 days or any periods you set, together with sales velocity and days of stock.
  • Stock change history: see every stock change of a product with its cause - order, invoice, shipment, credit memo, import or manual update.
