Configuration settings

To configure the Mixpanel Analytics extension, navigate to Stores → Settings → Configuration → Mirasvit Extensions → Mixpanel.

All settings on this page can be set per store view, so you can stream different store views into different Mixpanel projects (or leave some untracked).

General​

Stream product analytics events from your Magento store to a Mixpanel project for funnel, retention, and behavioral analysis.

  • Enable Mixpanel - turns tracking on or off. Tracking only becomes active once this is set to Yes and a Project token is provided.

  • Project token - your Mixpanel project token, used to ingest storefront events. You'll find it in the Mixpanel admin under Project Settings. See How to connect a Mixpanel project.

  • Service account username - used for the server-side customer profile sync (people profiles). Create a service account in the Mixpanel admin under Organization Settings → Service Accounts and grant it access to your project. The username looks like name.123abc.mp-service-account. Leave the service-account fields empty if you only want event tracking and don't need profile enrichment.

  • Service account secret - the secret shown only once, when the service account is created. It is stored encrypted in Magento.

  • Data residency - must match the data residency of your Mixpanel project (chosen when the project was created, shown under Project Settings). It determines the API endpoint that server-side data is sent to:

    • United States (US) → api.mixpanel.com
    • European Union (EU) → api-eu.mixpanel.com

    If this does not match your project's region, server-side events (refunds) and profile sync will be rejected.

Project token vs. Service account

The Project token is enough for event tracking (views, carts, checkout, purchases, search, refunds). The Service account credentials are only required to sync customer people profiles (lifetime value, order counts, etc.) to Mixpanel. They are independent - configure whichever you need.

The easiest way to analyze the data this extension collects is to connect Mixpanel to an AI agent (Claude or ChatGPT) over MCP and ask questions in plain language. Shared Marketing tracking settings​

Event-level behavior - which product identifier is used, whether the customer group is tracked, custom attribute mapping, the on-page debug toolbar, and the option to suppress tracking for selected visitors - is configured once for all Mirasvit tracking extensions under Marketing tracking.
