How to enable and adjust filter SEO URLs

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for configuring SEO-friendly filter URLs, making them more valuable for SEO, user-friendly, and easily recognizable.
SEO-friendly URLs replace standard URLs, such as /gear/bags.html?activity=20&features_bags=72&material=36 with cleaner and more descriptive URLs, such as /gear/bags/audiopocket-mesh-school.html.
To configure your filter URLs, go to Stores -> Configuration -> Filter SEO URLs.

tip

After saving the configuration, clear the Magento cache to apply changes.

1. Enable the feature

Select Yes in the Enable SEO friendly URLs option.

note

This works with the default Magento Layered Navigation or Mirasvit Layered Navigation.

Select the Short or Long option in the URL format configuration to set the desired format for links with applied filters.

3. Choose how filter names will be separated

Use Separator for filter names dropdown to pick the seperator that will be used to divide complex filter names.

long_url_filter_underscore

Long URL format with "_" separator

4. If necessary, set prefix for filters

Enter custom text in the Use prefix for filters field to use it before filter names in URL. For example, with the prefix filterby, the URL will look like this: /tops-men/filterby/material/cotton.html.
