Configuring the extension
Get detailed insight into how customers move through your store by streaming events into Mixpanel. Follow these steps to connect your store to a Mixpanel project and start collecting data.
1. Create or open a Mixpanel project
Sign in to Mixpanel and create a project for your store (or use an existing one). Note the project's data residency (US or EU) - it is chosen when the project is created and you'll need to match it in the extension settings. See How to connect a Mixpanel project for details.
2. Enable the extension and add your Project token
Navigate to Stores → Settings → Configuration → Mirasvit Extensions → Mixpanel, set Enable Mixpanel to Yes, and paste your Project token. This is the minimum needed to start tracking storefront events (views, add-to-cart, checkout, purchase, search). See the Configuration settings section for every option.
3. (Optional) Enable server-side customer profile sync
To enrich Mixpanel people profiles with lifetime value and order statistics, create a service account in Mixpanel and add its username and secret to the configuration. Once configured, identified customers are synced nightly (and on demand via CLI). See How to sync customer profiles.
4. Verify data is flowing
Open any storefront page with ?debug=mixpanel appended to the URL to see events in the on-page debug
toolbar, then check the Events view in your Mixpanel project. See
How to use the frontend debug panel.
5. Analyze your data with AI
The easiest way to get insight out of your data - without building dashboards or writing queries - is to connect Mixpanel to an AI agent such as Claude or ChatGPT over MCP and ask questions in plain language. Pair it with the Mirasvit Magento MCP integration to combine customer behavior with live store data (orders, customers, catalog) in a single conversation. See How to analyze your data with AI.
