Product selection rules

General information​

Basic settings for identifying and managing the rule.

  • Internal name: a descriptive name used internally to identify the rule. Customers will not see this value on the storefront.

Products selection conditions​

Defines the data sources and conditions the extension uses to generate product recommendations.

  • Primary source: determines where related product data comes from. Available options:

  • Whole catalog: all available products (products from the current product page, last added product in the cart, any already purchased products, possible related products).

  • Bought together (same order): previous orders (products from current product page, the last added product in the cart, any already purchased products, possible related products were bought in the same order).

  • Also bought (same customer): previous orders (the same customer bought products from the current product page, the last added product in the cart, any already purchased products, possible related product).

  • Viewed together: previous product viewing history (the same customer viewed products from current product page, the last added product in the cart, any already purchased products, possible related product).

  • Recently viewed: displays products the customer has recently browsed.

    Note

    When using the Viewed together and Recently viewed rules for product blocks, keep in mind the following:

    • This rule updates related product lists only if the option Enable product view report is active.
    • To enable it, go to: Stores > Configuration > Reports > first turn on Enable reports, then enable Product view report.
    • Viewed together and Recently viewed blocks works only for logged-in customers, since product views are tracked per customer account.

  • Condition builder: allows you to refine product selection with additional rules. Conditions are grouped by:

    • Product Attribute: any product attribute (e.g., Attribute Set, Category, custom attributes).
    • Product: an extra, non-attribute condition - currently only Product has image (Yes/No), to include or exclude products that have (or don't have) an image assigned.
    Example

    If ALL of these conditions are TRUE:

    Attribute Set is not Current Product “Attribute Set”

    Excludes products from the same attribute set as the one being viewed.
