Configuring the extension

A few tips to quickly tackle our key features.

Our GDPR extension is a simple yet powerful tool for implementing and managing common GDPR regulations. Most of its functions work out-of-the-box. In this section, we will explain how to quickly configure the key features.

1. Enable the GDPR extension

Start by enabling the GDPR module. This activates GDPR compliance features across your store. Without enabling this, the rest of the settings won’t take effect.

In the cookie consent settings, you can configure the cookie bar, cookie modal, and specify which countries will display cookie consent. This is a fundamental step to ensure that you collect consent from your visitors before placing any non-essential cookies.

Our module comes with four predefined cookie groups: Essential, Marketing, Functionality, and Statistical. These categories help classify cookies based on their function. You can also create your own custom cookie groups in the cookie groups section. Organizing cookies into groups is key to managing consent and ensuring compliance with GDPR requirements.

4. Configure individual cookies

The cookies section lets you manage all cookies used on your site. It includes a set of cookies necessary for your store’s core functions, as well as those tied to consent tracking. If you use third-party modules that set cookies, be sure to add them to this list. Doing so prevents these cookies from being automatically rejected.

To integrate Google consent mode with your store, first enable it in the configuration settings. This feature lets you control how Google tags (e.g., for ads and analytics) behave based on user consent. Be sure to configure default values for consent types like ad storage, analytics, etc., to avoid interruptions in data collection.
