How to give AI agents your store rules
Rules like "never remove product images" usually have to be pasted into every AI client, for every user. The AI Agent Connector extension sends them for you: you write them once in the admin, and every AI agent receives them when it connects, whichever client it uses.
The rules are advice to the AI model, not a permission. To make sure an agent cannot do something, use its role's resources and write access as well.
1. Write the store-wide rules
- Go to Stores -> Configuration -> Mirasvit Extensions -> MCP Server -> Rules for AI Agents.
- Enter your rules in Rules, one per line, the most important first. For example:
Never remove product images.
Never change data on store view cz.
Ask before changing more than 20 products at once.
- Click Save Config.
Every agent can reach every store view, whichever address it connected through. To protect a store view, name it in the rule, as in the example above.
2. Add rules for one role (optional)
- Go to System -> Permissions -> User Roles and open the role.
- Open the MCP Info tab and enter the role's rules in Rules for AI Agents -> Rules for this role, for example:
You may edit only product descriptions and meta fields.
- Click Save Role.
The role's rules are added after the store-wide rules. They never replace them, so a role cannot drop a store-wide rule.
3. Reconnect the AI client
An AI client receives the rules when it connects. Agents that are already connected get the new text the next time their client reconnects, for example when you start a new conversation or restart the client.
To check, ask the agent: "What are the store owner's rules?" It answers with the text you saved.
Some AI clients ignore or shorten the instructions a server sends. That is why the most important rules belong at the top.
