Manage smart filters
This section describes the options used when creating and editing individual smart filter cards. They are located in Content -> Layered Navigation -> Smart filters -> Add Filter/Edit.
Each card belongs to a single category and links to a pre-applied combination of filter options. Store-wide appearance (grid or slider, sizes, colors) is controlled separately on the smart filters configuration page.
After saving a card, clear the Magento cache to apply changes.
Smart filters grid
The grid lists all configured cards across categories. Along with the standard columns (ID, title, image), it shows:
- Category: the category path the card is displayed on.
- Clicks: the number of times shoppers have clicked the card. Use it to see which shortcuts perform best.
Use the Add Filter button to create a new card, the row actions to edit or delete a card, and the mass-action control to delete several cards at once.
General
- Title: the card label shown to shoppers (for example, Red or In Stock). Required.
note
If your store has more than one store view, a separate title field is shown for each store view, so you can translate the label. When a store-view title is left empty, the default title is used.
- Active: enables or disables the card. Inactive cards are not shown on the storefront.
- Category: the category page on which the card appears. Required.
- Position: sort order of the card within the block. Lower numbers appear first.
Filters
Defines the filter combination that is applied when a shopper clicks the card.
- Add filter: adds a row to the table.
- Attribute: the filterable attribute (for example, Color or Availability).
- Options: one or more options of the selected attribute (for example, Red). Combining several rows narrows the result to products matching all of them.
Filter Suggestions
Instead of building a combination by hand, use the Filter Suggestions button to pick from filter combinations that shoppers actually use most often on the selected category. These suggestions are drawn from filter analytics.
Suggestions require filter-combination analytics to be enabled and to have collected data. Only combinations that reach a minimum popularity are offered.
Display Settings
- Image: the card image. You can upload your own file (allowed types: jpg, jpeg, png, gif, webp) or let the module suggest a matching product image.
note
When you build a card from a suggestion, the module can offer product images that match the selected filters, so the card image reflects the actual products behind it. Whether images are shown at all, and their size and corner radius, are controlled on the smart filters configuration page.
- Image alt text: descriptive alternative text for the image, used for accessibility (WCAG 2.2 AA). Example: Red and blue color filter options. A separate alt-text field is available per store view.
