How to manage filters
This guide explains how to configure filters for category pages using the Filter Manager. Go to Content -> Layered Navigation -> Filters Manager and follow these steps:
1. Adding filters
- Click the Add filters button.
- Select an attribute you want to make filterable.
- Choose a display location: sidebar, horizontal bar, or both.
- Select the filter type: filterable (with results) or filterable (no results).
- Click Add selected filters button to confirm.
tip
If Both is selected, the same settings apply to both filter sections.
2. Editing filters
- Move mouse over the filter you'd like to edit and click the Edit button (gear icon).
- Adjust Appearence, Visibility, and Additional settings.
- Click Save configuration button to save attribute settings.
3. Managing filter positions
- Press and hold the button in the filter to start adjusting its position.
- Drag filters inside the section to change its position there.
- Move filters between Sidebar and Horizontal Bar sections by dragging them across.

Changes are saved instantly after the filter is dropped — no additional actions needed.
Removing filters
- Click the Remove icon on a filter.

- If the filter's position is set to
Both, it will be removed only from the section where removal is triggered and will remain in another. - If the filter exists in only one section, the Use in Layered Navigation setting is set to
No, disabling it completely.
Additionally
- Only attributes with catalog input types
Yes/No,Dropdown,Multiple select, andPricecan be used as filters. Make sure the attribute is enabled and assigned to an attribute set before adding it. - Custom filter settings are saved per attribute and control storefront display.
- Filters can be dragged between Sidebar and Horizontal bar at any time.
- If filters do not appear, confirm that attributes are enabled and assigned to attribute sets.
