How to manage filters

This guide explains how to configure filters for category pages using the Filter Manager. Go to Content -> Layered Navigation -> Filters Manager and follow these steps:

1. Adding filters

  • Click the Add filters button.
  • Select an attribute you want to make filterable.
  • Choose a display location: sidebar, horizontal bar, or both.
  • Select the filter type: filterable (with results) or filterable (no results).
  • Click Add selected filters button to confirm.
tip

If Both is selected, the same settings apply to both filter sections.

2. Editing filters

  • Move mouse over the filter you'd like to edit and click the Edit button (gear icon).
  • Adjust Appearence, Visibility, and Additional settings.
  • Click Save configuration button to save attribute settings.

3. Managing filter positions

  • Press and hold the button in the filter to start adjusting its position.
  • Drag filters inside the section to change its position there.
  • Move filters between Sidebar and Horizontal Bar sections by dragging them across.
note

Changes are saved instantly after the filter is dropped — no additional actions needed.

Removing filters

  • Click the Remove icon on a filter.
note
  • If the filter's position is set to Both, it will be removed only from the section where removal is triggered and will remain in another.
  • If the filter exists in only one section, the Use in Layered Navigation setting is set to No, disabling it completely.

Additionally

  • Only attributes with catalog input types Yes/No, Dropdown, Multiple select, and Price can be used as filters. Make sure the attribute is enabled and assigned to an attribute set before adding it.
  • Custom filter settings are saved per attribute and control storefront display.
  • Filters can be dragged between Sidebar and Horizontal bar at any time.
  • If filters do not appear, confirm that attributes are enabled and assigned to attribute sets.
