How to create a smart filter card
This guide explains how to create an individual smart filter card — a visual shortcut on a category page that applies a chosen filter combination in one click. To create a card, navigate to Content -> Layered Navigation -> Smart filters and click the Add Filter button.
Make sure the feature is turned on first — see show filter cards on category pages. After saving a card, clear the Magento cache to apply changes.
1. Configure general settings
Enter a Title for the card (for example, Red or In Stock), toggle Active on, and choose the Category on which the card should appear. Use Position to control where the card sits within the block.
2. Define the filter combination
In the Filters section, click Add filter and choose an Attribute and one or more of its Options. Add more rows to narrow the result to products matching every selected filter.
Alternatively, click Filter Suggestions to pick from the filter combinations shoppers use most often on the selected category. These suggestions come from filter analytics, so they reflect real customer behavior.
3. Set the image
In Display Settings, upload an Image for the card, or choose one of the product images the module suggests based on the selected filters. Add descriptive Image alt text for accessibility.
4. Save
Click Save. The card now appears in the smart filters grid and, once the cache is cleared, on the selected category page.
Once created, cards can be edited or deleted from the smart filters grid, where the Clicks column shows how often each card is used. Configurations that control the appearance of the block are described on the manage smart filters and smart filters pages.
