How to configure the chatbot
The chatbot's provider, behavior, and appearance are configured in the eChat backend, not in the Magento admin panel. This page is the short route; the eChat backend section documents every screen.
Opening the backend
- Navigate to Stores > Configuration > Mirasvit Extensions > eChat.
- Click the Configure Chat button. This opens the eChat backend in a new browser tab.
The button verifies the connection before it opens anything - see Troubleshooting if it reports instead of opening.
The four settings tabs
Everything about the assistant lives under Settings in the left sidebar:
| Tab | What you set there |
|---|---|
| AI Assistant | Preferred language, base prompt, your business instructions, tone of voice, and the alert email for when the assistant stops working. |
| Widget | Whether the widget runs, the assistant's name and avatar, the welcome message, the suggested questions, and the colors, position, and texts of the chat window and launcher button. |
| AI Providers | Your provider keys and models, and the order they fall back in. The assistant cannot answer until at least one provider is configured here. |
| Workspaces | The store views grouped under this account. |
See Settings and AI Providers for every field.
Customizing the chat widget
To change the widget's appearance, greeting text, or suggested questions:
- Navigate to Stores > Configuration > Mirasvit Extensions > eChat.
- Click Configure Chat to open the eChat backend.
- In the left sidebar, choose Settings.
- Open the Widget tab.
Teaching it how to handle specific requests
The Instructions field on the AI Assistant tab applies to every conversation. For procedure that should only apply to a particular customer intent - a refund request, a "where is my order" question - use Guidance instead, which is a separate item in the left sidebar. See Guidance.
Changes made in the eChat backend take effect immediately on your storefront - no sync or cache refresh is needed. To try a change before customers see it, use the backend's Preview screen: see History and Preview.
