SEO rewrite manager
This page describes settings related to SEO rewrites, a tool that allows you to change meta details (including robot headers) and SEO descriptions for specific pages. They are located in Marketing -> SEO rewrites -> Add rewrite/Edit.
Information defined in the SEO Rewrite rule will prevail over meta tags defined in the SEO Templates.
All SEO meta tags and descriptions of the rewritten pages are applied only to the current rewrite page URL and are not applied to other store pages (child categories, other layered navigation product URLs, etc.).
General information
- Pattern of URL or Action name: defines the path to URL for modification. Valid values are full action name or a request path. Wildcards are allowed.

- Sort order: sets a priority order of rewrite. If two rewrites can be applied to the page, the rewrite with the higher sort order will be applied.
- Store view: defines the scope of store views where rewrite can be applied.
- Title: defines title of the rewritten page.
- Meta title: defines meta title of the rewritten page.
- Meta keywords: defines meta keywords of the rewritten page.
- Meta description: defines meta description of the rewritten page.
- Robots meta header: sets robots directives for the page.
tip
Variables are applicable for meta title, meta keywords, meta description, and title.
- Add to sitemap: defines whether to add the rewritten page to the sitemap:
- Default: adding to the sitemap depends on configurations of sitemaps -> Include SEO rewrites in sitemap.
- Yes: adds the page to the sitemap. This option is useful for promoting rewrites with the INDEX robots meta header.
- No: don't add rewritten page to the sitemap.
SEO description
- SEO description position: sets the position of SEO description on frontend:
- Bottom of the page: under the
footer
element of product page. - Under custom template: defines a path to custom template:
- Template for adding SEO description: defines a path to the file with the template from the root directory of Magento.
- Don't add automatically: don't show SEO description.
