Organize all frequent inquiries and other helpful content with our solution. Reduce your support load, save your customers time, and make your store visible to both search engines and AI engines!

Introduce your online store customers to a powerful help resource. Create FAQ pages for them so you can save their time and make their life easier!

Knowledge Base is the extension that allows you to organize the most frequently asked questions or any other helpful information using articles sorted by defined categories.

Our solution makes your customers' self-service fast, easy, and convenient as it lets you:

  • perform a search by a single word, word combinations, exact phrases, or tags

  • get an answer from the FAQ pages within seconds

Your Knowledge Base Is the Source of Truth for AI Engines

In the AI era, customers don't just search Google — they ask ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, and other AI engines. These engines pull answers from structured, authoritative content. Your Knowledge Base becomes the single source of truth that AI engines reference and cite.

This shift has a name: AEO (Answer Engine Optimization) and GEO (Generative Engine Optimization). Just as SEO drives organic traffic from search engines, AEO/GEO ensures your store's content is discovered and recommended by AI-powered answer engines.

A well-structured Knowledge Base with clear, factual articles gives you:

  • Higher visibility in AI-generated answers and recommendations
  • Authoritative content that AI engines prefer to cite over unstructured pages
  • A new traffic channel — customers who find your store through AI conversations
  • Consistent, accurate brand messaging across both search and AI platforms

Relevant Search Results From Magento 2 FAQ Extension

magento 2 knowledge base

Knowledge Base allows your customers to perform a search in several modes:

  • by exact phrase
  • by a single word
  • by word combinations

Whatever your customers' enter in the search string, our solution gives the most relevant result list in a split of second from:

  • category names
  • articles content
  • tags

Your customer will see the most relevant articles at a glance!

Use Ratings to sort articles by quality and relevance

Knowledge Base Extension lets you organize all the articles by their quality, using ratings and vote numbers for each article.

For example, you added some information to the article 'Shipping Fees' and published it.

Customers rate this article over some time by voting if they considered 'Shipping Fees' useful. So, the more votes the article gets, the higher the ratings. Therefore, the high rating establishes a ground for assigning a good quality to the article. If the rating is low, you must edit the FAQ page and add more useful and clear information.

Use ratings and votes to evaluate your knowledge-base articles or FAQ pages and constantly improve them!

SEO + AEO/GEO: Optimized for Search Engines and AI Engines

The Magento 2 Knowledge Base extension makes your article URLs SEO-friendly. You can customize how pages appear in search results by adding custom meta titles, descriptions, and rich snippets.

But today, SEO alone is not enough. AI engines like ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity are becoming a major traffic driver. They favor well-structured, authoritative content — exactly what a Knowledge Base provides. By maintaining clear, factual articles with proper headings and semantic markup, your content becomes a trusted source that AI engines reference in their answers.

With Knowledge Base, your store is optimized for both traditional search engines and the new generation of AI-powered answer engines.

Increasingly important for both customers, search engines and AI
A strong knowledge base is becoming essential for ecommerce, not only for customer support and traditional SEO but also for making accurate company and product information accessible to AI systems.

Mirasvit Knowledge Base provides a full-featured system with categories, organization, tagging, SEO fields and extensive customization. Search integration is especially strong because relevance can be adjusted using different weights and factors rather than relying on a basic keyword match. Performance is quick and the frontend is responsive.

The integration with Contact Us and Help Desk is another excellent feature. Relevant articles can be presented before a customer submits a question, potentially resolving the issue without creating another support ticket.

I would like to see more ready-made layout templates included so stores have additional polished starting points for the frontend design.

Love this extension
Outstanding support from the Mirasvit team on their Knowledge Base extension. They added several customer-requested features within days — genuinely phenomenal responsiveness that you rarely see. Mirasvit are our chosen extension provider by a massive margin, and this is exactly why. Highly recommended.

Great extension, especially with the help desk
No one likes answering help desk tickets for questions that already have answers on their website. The nicest thing about the KB is it integrates with the help desk extension to automatically show potential answers and resources to the customer before actually submitting a ticket. Lowering my workload is always a good thing.

The KB itself is nice as well. Layouts, articles, tags, and good seo structure. I would recommend.

Changelog
Version 1.3.2Sep 21, 2026
The admin article pages now receive their dependencies through Magento's dependency injection instead of reaching for the object manager at run time, so setup:di:compile sees them all. Nothing changes in how the article form behaves. ⚠️ The abstract admin controller Mirasvit\Kb\Controller\Adminhtml\Article takes one more constructor argument (Magento\Store\Model\StoreFactory, before Magento\Framework\Registry) - relevant only if a custom controller extends it and declares its own constructor
Version 1.3.1Sep 18, 2026
A Knowledge Base comment can no longer be published in a signed-in customer's name by a link on another website.
The content editor on the Knowledge Base category page no longer falls back to an older editor on some Magento installations.
Version 1.3.0Sep 11, 2026
Hyvä and GraphQl support now ship with the extension — The two companion packages, mirasvit/module-kb-hyva and mirasvit/module-kb-graph-ql, are gone: everything they contained is part of Knowledge Base itself. That is the Hyvä storefront — article and category pages, the collapsible category sidebar, the search form and results, the tag pages, the article list toolbar, the comment form and listing, the FAQ block on product, category and CMS pages, the vote and rating fragments and the footer link — and the knowledgeBaseArticles, knowledgeBaseCategories and knowledgeBaseComments queries used by headless and PWA storefronts. There is no longer an extra package to find and keep in step, and on a Luma store the Hyvä part simply stays dormant. If either package is installed on your store, remove it before you upgrade — the first item under Improvements has the two commands.
Readers can reorder the comments on an article without reloading the page — The comment list now carries its own sort control, and using it fetches just the reordered list instead of rebuilding the article page. The address bar keeps up, so a sorted list survives a reload, can be shared as a link, and the browser's Back button returns to the order the reader came in with. The comment form and its reCAPTCHA are left alone while the list reorders. Works the same on Luma and Hyvä
Google reCAPTCHA on the comment form is now Magento's own — Instead of a yes/no switch, you choose the type — reCAPTCHA v2 checkbox, v2 invisible or v3 — and the keys are the ones you already configured for Contact Us and the review form. The setting appears in two places, and they are one setting: Stores > Configuration > Knowledge Base > Comments, where you configure comments anyway, and Security > Google reCAPTCHA Storefront > Enable for Knowledge Base Comments, next to Magento's other forms; saving either shows the new value in the other. A failed check is rejected on the server on both themes, and Hyvä also blocks the submit before it is sent. See the upgrade note under Improvements — the old setting is not carried over
⚠️ Remove the companion packages before upgrading — If your store has either one installed, run this first:
⚠️ Turn the comment reCAPTCHA back on after upgrading — The old Enable Google reCaptcha yes/no under Knowledge Base > Comments was built on MSP_ReCaptcha, a third-party module abandoned in 2018 that cannot be installed on any Magento this extension supports — so on a current store the switch protected nothing whatever it was set to. It is replaced by Magento's own reCAPTCHA, and the setting lives at a new configuration path: recaptcha_frontend/type_for/kb_comment instead of kb/comments/enable_recaptcha. Your old value is not migrated and the old path is no longer read, so pick the reCAPTCHA type you want after upgrading. Configuration set through config:set, a data patch or deployment config needs the new path. The MSP-specific classes went with it — Mirasvit\Kb\Model\Provider\Failure\RedirectUrl\LocalComments, the MspRedirectUrlProviderInterface method it implemented, and the three MSP\ReCaptcha virtual types in di.xml
⚠️ Hyva_MirasvitKb is gone, not renamed — The Hyvä module no longer exists in any form, and neither does its dependency on hyva-themes/magento2-compat-module-fallback. Which template a block uses is now decided in layout: the remaining Hyvä-only templates live beside their Luma counterparts inside Mirasvit_Kb, and a hyva_default.xml that only Magento merges on a Hyvä theme points each block at its Hyvä version. Nothing in the extension asks which theme is active. setup:upgrade removes the old module name from app/etc/config.php for you. You only need to act if you referenced Hyva_MirasvitKb yourself — in a custom di.xml, a layout file, or a deployment script that enables modules by name.
⚠️ If you overrode a Hyvä knowledge base template in your theme, repoint it — Every template moved out of the retired package and was renamed on the way, from Hyva_MirasvitKb::<path>.phtml to Mirasvit_Kb::<path>-hyva.phtml. Most then merged with their Luma counterpart, so there is now one template per block that both themes render, at the plain Luma path — Mirasvit_Kb::article/view.phtml, article/list.phtml, article/faq.phtml, article/comment/form.phtml, article/comment/listing.phtml, category/sidebar.phtml, category/view.phtml, category/view/mode/extended.phtml, article/metadata/*, search/form.phtml, search/result.phtml, tag/view.phtml and tag/list.phtml. Only five files stay Hyvä-only, because Luma has no counterpart for them: html/footer/links-hyva.phtml and the four product/list/toolbar*-hyva.phtml. An override sitting at a path that no longer exists is simply not read, and there is no error to say so — the stock template renders instead. Luma template paths did not change, and a Luma override of any of the merged files keeps working
⚠️ The knowledge base GraphQl queries now answer on every store — Previously the schema arrived with an optional package, so knowledgeBaseArticles, knowledgeBaseCategories and knowledgeBaseComments existed only where that package had been installed. They now ship with the extension and apply everywhere, which is a change in behaviour on upgrade for anyone querying /graphql.
One storefront, two themes — The article page, article list, category grid and extended category page, the category sidebar, the FAQ accordion, the vote widget, the search form, the tag pages and the comment form and listing are each one template now, rendered by Luma and Hyvä alike and styled by whichever stylesheet the theme has. Several of them lost their JavaScript entirely along the way: the category sidebar is a real nested tree and the FAQ is a plain accordion, both built on the browser's own disclosure element instead of jQuery on one theme and Alpine on the other, and the per-visitor rating and vote fragment is fetched by a few lines of plain script rather than a RequireJS widget. Pages behave the same and look the same as before on each theme, with less to go wrong on either. ⚠️ Two details for anyone with custom styles: Mirasvit_Kb/js/article/metadata has been deleted, and the article page's byline is now the same list markup the article list uses, so rules written against .kb-article__metadata .author and .rating should move to .kb-article__metadata-list > li
56 phrases that were only ever shown in English are now translated — Admin form and grid labels, the error messages the REST API returns for articles, categories and comments, the FAQ settings, and 16 storefront strings were missing from the dictionaries, so they rendered in English in all 15 non-English locales no matter the store's language. They are collected and translated into every bundled language
Long unbroken text — a URL, an id, a pasted token — now wraps instead of running out of its box on the category listing, the FAQ block on product pages and the article body
The Read More link on a truncated excerpt now sits at the start of the line under the text it continues, on both the FAQ block and the article listing, and no longer repeats the ellipsis the excerpt already ends with
The Hyvä storefront no longer needs a second package to be kept in step with this one. Where a fix to a Hyvä template used to mean a release of both packages and a version pair to match up, it is now one release.
The "Was this article helpful?" vote never appeared on Hyvä storefronts. The block that renders it tested for a condition that could not occur, so a Hyvä store showed no prompt and no vote buttons on any article — silently, with nothing in the logs. It renders now, exactly as it does on Luma. A second fault sat behind it: the vote form went out with an empty security key and nothing filled it in, so even a visitor who somehow reached the buttons would have had the vote rejected as "Invalid Form Key". The key is now filled from the visitor's own cookie, the same way Luma has done since 1.2.16. Luma storefronts were unaffected by either
Turning on reCAPTCHA for comments made every article page a 500 error. On any store without the third-party MSP_ReCaptcha module installed — which is every current store, since that module cannot be installed on a supported Magento — switching the setting on brought down every knowledge base article with Class "MSP\ReCaptcha\Block\Frontend\ReCaptcha" does not exist in the log. Turning the setting off was the only way back. This affected the released 1.2.18 on Luma as well as Hyvä. The comment form now builds its reCAPTCHA only when a reCAPTCHA module is actually there
A comment could not be posted on Hyvä, and a saved comment did not appear on either theme. You wrote a comment, the page reloaded, and nothing was there — with no message to say why. Two faults produced that one symptom. On Hyvä the form carried a security key belonging to whichever signed-in visitor happened to generate the page's cache entry, so for everyone else the submission was rejected, and which articles it affected looked random because it depended on who had loaded the page first. On both themes, an article with no comments yet was cached in a way that the first comment could not clear, so even a comment that saved correctly stayed invisible until that cache expired. The key is now filled in from the visitor's own browser, the way Luma has always done it, and posting a comment clears the article's cached page. Only the first fault was Hyvä-specific
The comment list's sort and page-size controls did nothing on Hyvä storefronts. "Set Descending Direction" and the page size select on the comment list wrote the catalog's own parameter names into the page, which the comment list was not listening for, so clicking them changed nothing at all. Both work now. Luma storefronts were unaffected
Hyvä storefronts lost part of the knowledge base styling. The separator dots in an article's byline were missing and the byline itself rendered at the wrong size and colour, because the extension's own Tailwind styles were never fed to the theme's CSS build. The extension now registers itself with that build, as the retired Hyvä package used to. Rebuild your theme's Tailwind CSS after upgrading. Luma storefronts were unaffected
Comments could inject markup into the page on Hyvä storefronts. With local comments as the comment provider, an article's comment list printed each comment's text into the page exactly as submitted, so a comment containing HTML or a script ran in the browser of everyone who read that article afterwards. Comment text, author names and dates are now escaped, as they always were on Luma. Luma storefronts were never affected
Category, subcategory, article and tag names, and the links built from them, are now escaped on Hyvä storefronts too — a name containing markup no longer changes the page around it. Luma storefronts were unaffected
Fixed the Update URL mass action on the admin article grid doing nothing. It reported "A total of N article(s) have been updated." for whatever you selected, while rewriting no URLs and clearing no cache, so a stale or broken article URL stayed broken. It now rebuilds the URL of every selected article
Fixed the Save split-button menu being invisible on the article edit form in the admin panel. The drop-down opened underneath the edge of the button bar and was cut off entirely, so "Save & Close" and the other entries could not be reached
Fixed the category sidebar highlighting nothing and opening no branch on any store whose URLs carry a store code — which is most multi-store installations. The sidebar now finds the current category directly instead of trying to match URLs
Fixed the category sidebar marking every category an article belongs to. An article filed in three categories lit up all three, none of which was necessarily the one the reader arrived through; the sidebar now marks the single category the breadcrumb above it names
Fixed the layout of an article's footer on Luma, where the categories fell into a bulleted column with a stray separator after the "Categories:" label, the tags ran together with no spacing and the vote widget dropped below them instead of sitting alongside. Also on Luma: the category sidebar's links are grey again rather than link-blue, and the folder and article icons on the category grid are back at their previous size and line up with their text
Fixed the comment section reading differently on the two themes. The dividing line no longer sits between the comment box and its own Submit button — it now marks the boundary between writing a comment and reading them — the spacing under the form is the same on both themes, the heading and the sort control share one row, and the redundant "N Items" count next to a visible list is gone
The heading on a Hyvä tag page can now be translated. It read Articles by tag "…" in English whatever the store's language, and is now the same translated phrase Luma has always used, available in all 16 bundled languages
The Hyvä footer link no longer writes to an undeclared property. It set a value that nothing read and that PHP 8.2 already reports as deprecated and PHP 9 removes altogether; the same value was being passed to Magento's own link block on the next line regardless. Nothing about the rendered link changes.
Version 1.2.18Sep 1, 2026
Faster article listings — category, tag and search listings now fetch the links for all articles on the page in one database lookup instead of one lookup per article, so long listings render with noticeably fewer queries. ⚠️ This needs Mirasvit Core 1.7.20 or newer; the module now requires that version in composer.json (previously ^1.2)
Hardened output in the knowledge base category and article templates, on both the storefront and the admin panel — rendered blocks are marked as trusted HTML and the numeric values used in category-level classes and tag-cloud font sizes are forced to numbers. The pages look exactly the same as before
⚠️ Removed three classes that nothing used any more: Mirasvit\Kb\Block\Tag\Cloud, Mirasvit\Kb\Block\Adminhtml\Helper\Form\Category and the admin controller Mirasvit\Kb\Controller\Adminhtml\Category\SuggestCategories (route kbase/category/suggestCategories). Mirasvit\Kb\Service\Sitemap also no longer takes Magento\Framework\App\ProductMetadataInterface in its constructor. If you have a customization referencing any of these, update it before upgrading
Fixed knowledge base sitemap generation aborting on installations where Magento does not report a real version number (a Magento source checkout rather than a composer release). The command finished with an error code, wrote no sitemap file at all and logged nothing, so the failure was easy to miss
Version 1.2.17Aug 28, 2026
Faster knowledge base pages — article, category and search pages no longer repeat the same database lookups over and over. The knowledge base root category is now read once per page instead of on every request for it, the category sidebar builds its tree once, and each category's article count is calculated once per page rather than twice per category. On a test store an article page dropped from 40 knowledge base queries to 18 and a search listing from 8 to 7, with the rendered page unchanged
Fixed knowledge base categories saved with an empty description filling var/log/exception.log with errors every time the category page was opened. An empty description is now treated as empty text
Fixed articles saved with an empty body filling var/log/exception.log with errors every time the article was viewed on the storefront. An empty body is now treated as empty text
