Which Magento 2 Abandoned Cart & Follow Up Email Extension Is Best?
Prices and features verified: October 2026
Two questions decide the pick
First, whether you only need to win back abandoned carts or want follow-ups across the whole customer lifecycle. Second, how you'll know which email actually brought the money.
Abandoned cart extensions send a reminder series to shoppers who left items in the cart. Follow-up email extensions cover the cart too, plus order and shipping updates, review requests, wishlist alerts, birthdays and win-back emails for customers who stopped buying. Some vendors sell the two as separate extensions, so check what one purchase covers.
Cart-only extensions report recovered carts and recovered revenue. Most follow-up extensions report only emails sent, opened and clicked, and leave revenue to Google Analytics UTM tags. Attributing orders to each email shows which review request, win-back or chain step pays for itself and which one you can drop.
Hosted platforms such as Klaviyo and Omnisend do the same jobs outside Magento, billed monthly by the number of contacts. On Adobe Commerce, Email Reminder Rules already cover basic cart and wishlist reminders (see FAQ).

Side by side, on what changes the decision

SMS is left out on purpose (see FAQ). Prices are for Magento Open Source and the lowest plan; Adobe Commerce prices are in each vendor's section below.

| Mirasvit Follow Up Email | $219 | full lifecycle | revenue per email | No |

Frequently asked questions
Which Magento 2 abandoned cart email extension is best?
It depends on whether you need only cart recovery. For cart reminders alone, Aheadworks ($110 a year) and MageDelight ($129) are the cheapest, Mageplaza ($149) adds a live cart board, and Amasty ($179) adds recovery and efficiency reports. If you also want order, review, wishlist and win-back emails and need to see the revenue each email brings, Mirasvit Follow Up Email covers both for $219. If A/B testing matters most, choose Mageplaza or Aheadworks Follow Up Email.
Is there a free abandoned cart extension for Magento 2?
None of the eight extensions compared here has a free version. Free options are small community modules on GitHub that send a basic reminder a set time after the cart is left, and the free plans of Klaviyo and Omnisend, which stop at 250 contacts and 500 emails a month. Paid extensions add multi-step chains, guest cart capture, unique coupons, reporting and vendor support.
Should I buy an abandoned cart extension or a follow-up email extension?
Buy a follow-up email extension if you'll want anything beyond the cart within a year: review requests, order updates, wishlist alerts or win-back emails. Every follow-up extension here includes abandoned cart emails except Amasty's, which sells cart recovery separately. A cart-only extension is the cheaper choice when the cart is the only email you plan to automate.
Does Magento have built-in abandoned cart emails?
Not Magento Open Source. Adobe Commerce includes Email Reminder Rules, which send cart and wishlist reminders by conditions with a coupon and a repeat schedule. For multi-step chains, guest carts and lifecycle emails, both editions need an extension.
Magento extension or Klaviyo for abandoned cart emails?
A Magento extension runs inside your store for a fixed price, with no contact limits and no data sync. Klaviyo and Omnisend add visual flow builders and campaign newsletters, but bill monthly by contacts and need your store data synced out. If you already pay for one of them, use its cart flows; if email is your only channel, an extension usually costs less over a year.
How do these extensions measure abandoned cart revenue?
The cart-only extensions from Amasty, Mageplaza and Aheadworks report recovered carts and recovered revenue. The follow-up extensions from Mageplaza, Aheadworks and Amasty report emails sent, opened and clicked and leave revenue to Google Analytics UTM tags. Mirasvit attributes an order to the email the customer opened or clicked within the previous three hours, and reports that revenue per campaign, trigger and email.
Which extensions offer A/B testing?
Mageplaza and Aheadworks Follow Up Email include A/B testing of emails. None of the cart-only extensions here has it, and neither does Mirasvit.
What about SMS and WhatsApp cart reminders?
We left them out of this comparison on purpose: text messaging is a different job, with its own provider accounts, sender registration, consent rules and per-message costs. A dedicated SMS extension or service handles that better than an email extension with SMS added on. Where vendors offer it, it's usually a separate package anyway, such as Amasty's advanced notifications add-on or Mageplaza's SMS Notification, both working through your own Twilio account.
Can abandoned cart emails include a unique coupon?
Yes, all of them can add a coupon. Mirasvit generates a unique single-use code for each email with an expiry date, so a code can't be shared or reused after the cart is recovered.
