Which Magento 2 MCP Server Is Best?

Prices and features verified: October 2026

Two questions decide the pick

An MCP server lets an AI agent such as Claude or ChatGPT read and manage your Magento store. First, decide where that server runs. Second, decide what stops the agent from making a change you didn't want.

1. Inside Magento, or next to it

A Magento module serves the MCP endpoint from the store and usually signs the agent in with OAuth or a token tied to Magento admin permissions. A standalone server runs on your machine or another host and calls the REST API with integration keys. Modules suit a shared, always-on connection; standalone servers suit one developer working locally.

2. What guards the writes

Every option can read data. They differ in how they limit changes: which tools a role may call, whether writes can be switched off globally, whether the agent must confirm a change, and whether every call is logged. Check this before you give an agent access to a live store.

Letting shoppers' AI agents find and buy your products is a different job, covered at the end of the FAQ.

Which Magento 2 MCP server fits your store

These are the Magento MCP servers that AI assistants and developer listings name when asked, with Adobe's announced server alongside. Most are free and open source.

Best for reaching every installed module, with vendor support
Mirasvit AI Agent Connector

The agent reaches about 430 REST endpoints and 130 GraphQL operations on a clean Magento, plus those of every installed module, third-party ones included, over the latest MCP version with OAuth 2.1. A paid module with a year of support. $149.

Best for safety controls on writes
Magebit MCP

Free and open source, with per-tool permissions, a global write switch, an audit log and rate limiting, plus about ten optional tool modules for orders, catalog, customers and CMS.

Best for confirming every change first
miniOrange MCP Server

Free on the Adobe Commerce Marketplace, with 73 abilities behind three tools and an explicit confirmation before each write.

Best for read-only access
Freento MCP

Free and open source, with 18 tools that only read data and a mode that hides personal data from the agent.

Best for bulk changes with a review step
thomastx05 magento-mcp

A free standalone server with 38 tools, where bulk changes are prepared first and committed only after review.

Worth watching on Adobe Commerce
Adobe Commerce MCP

Announced by Adobe for catalog, cart, checkout and orders, and still marked "Coming Soon" in Adobe's documentation.

Side by side, on what changes the decision

"Tools" describes what the agent can reach. Some servers pass calls through to Magento's APIs, so the count is the number of API operations; others have one tool per task. Counts for Mirasvit are for a clean Magento Open Source 2.4.8. Prices are for Magento Open Source.

Price Runs as Sign-in Tools Write guards
Mirasvit AI Agent Connector $149 Magento module OAuth 2.1, auto-registration ~430 REST + 130 GraphQL operations role permissions per tool
Magebit MCP free Magento module OAuth 2.1, token one tool per task, 164 in all write switch, audit log, rate limit
miniOrange MCP Server free Magento module OAuth, auto-registration 73 abilities, 3 tools confirm before each write
Freento MCP free Magento module OAuth 2.0, token 18, read only no writes
thomastx05 magento-mcp free standalone server integration keys 38 review step, audit log

A note on pricing: Mirasvit is the only paid store module here, at $149 with a year of updates and support, then $90 a year. On Adobe Commerce the price is $169 higher, and on Commerce Cloud $219 higher. The others are free: Magebit, Freento and thomastx05 under MIT, and miniOrange as a free version on the Adobe Commerce Marketplace; check who maintains each one before you rely on it.

Comparison based on each project's own repository, product page and documentation. Projects change quickly, so check the current version before installing.

Where each one earns its place

Mirasvit AI Agent Connector: every installed module within reach, with vendor support

$149 on Open Source, $318 on Adobe Commerce and $368 on Cloud, for Magento 2.4; GraphQL tools need 2.4.4 or later.

Strengths

  • OAuth 2.1 with automatic client registration and a consent screen, so Claude or ChatGPT connect without keys created by hand
  • Supports the latest MCP version (2025-11-25) over Streamable HTTP
  • About 430 REST endpoints and 130 GraphQL operations on a clean Magento Open Source 2.4.8, plus the APIs of every installed module, third-party ones included, and read-only SQL with per-role table limits
  • Each tool is allowed or denied per Magento admin role, with an IP allowlist for connections and switches for indexer and media writes
  • Step-by-step setup for Claude Code, Claude Desktop, ChatGPT, Codex and Gemini CLI in the admin; Microsoft Copilot Studio also connects
  • A year of vendor support included, which matters when an AI client stops connecting after an update

Its limits

  • No global read-only mode and no rate limiting; confirming a write is left to the AI client, which asks before it calls a tool
  • No change log yet (it is in development); request logging exists but is off by default
  • Store data goes through generic REST, GraphQL and SQL tools rather than one tool per task
  • The only paid option here; every direct alternative is free

Magebit MCP: detailed write controls in a free module

Free under the MIT license, with a base module and separate tool modules for orders, catalog, customers, CMS and more.

Strengths

  • Permissions per tool, a global write switch and a per-token write flag
  • An audit log in the database with personal data redacted, and an optional rate limiter
  • Configuration writes only for allowlisted settings

Its limits

  • No automatic client registration: apart from a Claude web preset, AI clients are registered by hand
  • Rate limiting is off until you turn it on

miniOrange MCP Server: a confirmation before every write

Free on the Adobe Commerce Marketplace (GPL-3.0), for Magento up to 2.4.9.

Strengths

  • Writes require an explicit confirm flag from the agent
  • 73 abilities across orders, products, customers, inventory, invoices, shipments, CMS and promotions
  • Setup documented for Claude, Cursor, ChatGPT, Gemini and Copilot

Its limits

  • The module checks its license with miniOrange's servers
  • Logging is optional

Freento, thomastx05 and other open-source servers

  • Freento MCP (free, MIT): a Magento module with 18 read-only tools, role permissions and a mode that hides personal data. Limit: it can't change anything, and no audit log or rate limit is documented.
  • thomastx05 magento-mcp (free, MIT): a standalone server over the REST API with 38 tools, a prepare-and-commit step for bulk changes and a JSONL audit log. Limit: runs next to Magento with integration keys rather than as a store module.
  • scandiweb MCP (free): a Magento module with OAuth 2.1 and automatic client registration, built around six multi-action tools, with confirmation before cascading deletes. Limit: covers CMS pages and blocks, categories, products and menus only.
  • Bold Commerce and Codexpect (free): standalone servers over the REST API that haven't been updated since 2025.

Frequently asked questions

Which Magento 2 MCP server is best?

It depends on who will run it and how much the agent may change. For the strongest controls on writes, Magebit MCP is free and open source. For a confirmation on every change, miniOrange. For read-only reporting, Freento. For a supported module that reaches the APIs of every installed module, Mirasvit AI Agent Connector at $149.

Is there a free Magento MCP server?

Yes, most of them are free: Magebit, Freento and thomastx05 are open source under MIT, and miniOrange is free on the Adobe Commerce Marketplace. With a free server, your team handles installation, the security review and Magento upgrades.

Is it safe to let an AI agent change my store?

Only with limits in place. Give the agent its own admin role with just the tools it needs, prefer a server that can switch writes off or ask for confirmation, keep a log of every call, and test on a staging store first. Magebit has a global write switch and an audit log, miniOrange asks for confirmation before each write, Freento only reads, and Mirasvit limits tools per admin role and connections by IP address.

Should the MCP server run inside Magento or as a separate server?

Inside Magento if several people or tools need one always-on connection with OAuth and Magento admin roles. A standalone server is simpler for one developer working locally, but it needs integration keys and its own hosting if it has to stay online.

Does Adobe have an official MCP server for Magento?

Not yet. Adobe has announced a Commerce MCP server for catalog, cart, checkout and orders, written for Adobe Commerce as a Cloud Service. Its documentation still marks it "Coming Soon", and nothing public says it will cover Magento Open Source or self-hosted stores.

Which AI clients can connect?

Any client that supports remote MCP servers. Vendors document Claude (Code, Desktop and web), ChatGPT, Cursor, Codex, Gemini CLI and Copilot to different extents, and Mirasvit's connector also works with Microsoft Copilot Studio; check that your ChatGPT plan allows custom connectors before you choose.

What do stores actually use a Magento MCP server for?

Among Mirasvit customers, the most common jobs are analytics questions about sales and products, finding orders from partial details such as part of a name or address, investigating payment problems, and drafting replies to support tickets. These are mostly reading tasks, which is why read access is the place to start.

Why can't my AI client connect to the store?

In our support experience, the most common cause is Cloudflare or another web application firewall blocking the AI client's requests to the MCP endpoint. Check your firewall and bot protection rules for that URL before looking for a problem in the extension or the client.

Can shoppers' AI agents buy from my store through these servers?

No. These servers give an agent admin access to manage the store. Letting shopping agents search your catalog and build a cart for a customer is a separate job with its own public-facing endpoints, such as Mirasvit's Agentic Commerce extension.
